Gideon V. Wainwright
The Sixth Amendment was violated, without question.

Clarence E. Gideon was accused of burglary in 1961. Gideon could not afford an attorney and asked, under the sixth amendment, for a Florida Circuit Court judge to appoint him an attorney. Without hesitation, the judge denied Gideon's request, resulting in Gideon defending himself, rather poorly to say the least.
